Removing a Tick
It is the season for ticks. If you or your child get one, never use nail polish, petrolium jelly or other home remedies to remove it. First, find a pair of good tweezers. Place the tweezers gently on the head of the tick, as close to your skin as possible. Pull the tick straight out. Never twist the tick to pull it out. Once the tick is removed, clean the bite area with alcohol. If you or your child develops a rash around the bite, headaches, fever or any other body aches, see a doctor immediately to talk about Lyme Disease. Furthermore, if any of the tick’s head remains in the skin, contact your physician as soon as possible to have it removed.
