Tall Enough for Twins!
Would you believe that taller pregnant women have a greater chance of carrying twins than pregnant women of average height? It’s true! The possible reason can be tied to IGF, an insulin growth factor. This growth factor is linked to an increased chance of carrying twins – and you guessed it – taller women have more IGF.
The liver releases the insulin-like growth factor protein in response to the growth hormone. This protein makes the ovaries more sensitive to follicle stimulating hormone, which increases ovulation.
A study found that women who were 5 feet 5 inches and taller carried more multiples than those who were shorter. Just imagine - twins sure have someone to look UP to after they are born!
