Anemia Risk for Obese Toddlers
A new study suggests that obese toddlers can be low in iron. This deficiency can result in developmental delays. More than 20% of toddlers are at risk of anemia according to researchers. Reasons explained may be too much milk and juice in a bottle rather than introducing solid foods at an earlier age that have more iron in them. Delaying weaning from the bottle can be unhealthy for babies. Researchers in this study have suggested that children in daycare centers are 50% less likely to have low iron because they may pay more attention to nutrition. I’m sure stay at home moms will disagree on that one.
