Concern Over Home Lead Test Kits

Published by admin under Child Health and Safety

A recent CPSC staff study has stated that home lead test kits are not reliable in detecting low levels of lead in paint or toys. When using these tests, tin, dirt, or even paint colors can alter the results or hide changes in color, making test results highly unreliable.

What’s a parent to do with concerns over lead in toys and the alarming number of recalls, these days?

Not included in the recall are cough and cold medicines for children over the age of two.
