Hearing Problems linked to Smoking in Pregnancy
According to a study by Yale University, teens who smoke or whose mothers smoked in pregnancy were at risk for hearing problems. Sixty seven teens were tested and when they were exposed to smoke they had difficulty interpretting sound when there were distractions in the room. Researchers also noticed changes in the white matter in the brain caused by the nicotene in the cigarettes. The changes were said to be significant. Another reason not to smoke when pregnant.
