Recall: Child Dies from Suffocation in Convertible Crib

Due to entrapment and suffocation risks, the Consumer Product Safety Commision (CPSC) has issued a voluntary recall of the convertible crib manufactured by Playkids USA. This crib leaves a gap between the mattess and an expanding mesh area. The crib converts from crib/playpen/bassinet/bed, so that as a child grows he can remain in the same bed for several years. The crib was sold for about $100 through retailers in New York from March 2007 to September 2008. The death of a five month old baby that suffocated while in the crib is what prompted the voluntary recall by the company who makes it.

If you think you purchased one of these cribs check the model number.  If it is PLK-909, immediately stop using the crib. Contact Playkids USA directly for a full refund at 718-797-0302.
