Mom Finds a $400,000 Treasure with Metal Detector

Every summer my family would vacation at Virginia Beach which was a wonderful treat for all of us.  My grand parents would usually come down for a few days to join us.  They were some of my fondest family memories.  Every morning my grandfather would head to the beach with his metal detector.  On occasion I would go with him and he would share his insights on beach life.  As I got older and he continued his morning walks, this teenager couldn’t seem to get out of bed that early to join him.  I remember thinking how crazy it was that he would take his metal detector out thinking he was going to find something valuable.

How wrong I was.  Housewife, Mary Hannaby can testify to that.  For seven years she and her son would take long, six hour walks with her friend, the metal detector.  On one of those days, Mary found a treasure worth over $400,000.  She pulled a 500 year old solid gold pendant that was almost 500 years old, from the ground and hopes to pay off her mortgage with the profits.  I’m off to the store to buy a metal detector!
