Little People Call for Censorship of TV Broadcast

The group Little People of America is calling for the term “midget” to be stricken from the television, a la Federal Communications Commission. They claim the word is just as insulting and disrespectful as racial slurs describing any other minority.
“Tiny Titi” Moreno is known as a little person and supports the groups’ push towards the FCC to get the term banned.
“It’s like an ugly word towards me and I don’t like it,” said Moreno, a former D.J. in El Paso, Texas.
He states that he has lost many opportunities in the world because of his size, “We might be small but we can do everything like everybody else,” said Moreno. “I’ve gone to apply at many jobs and everything and they won’t take me because of my size and I think that’s discrimination.”
“Yeah, I think it would do a lot of good for us if they take that word off and they can not use that word anymore,” said Moreno.
Most of Little People of America’s outrage stems from a recent episode of NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice” that the group found to be very disparaging.
During the episode, a team of contestants conceived an ad for a brand of detergent titled “Jesse James and the Midgets.”
The team then described washing little people in the detergent and putting them out to dry.
If the FCC decides not to censor the word from all of TV, Moreno says he will move on with his life.
“I see an obstacle, I will find a way to overcome an obstacle,” he stated.
