Actor Simon Pegg and wife Maureen McCann welcomed their first child this past week in Los Angeles, but have been keeping a tight lid on details on everything that happened.

The “Star Trek” star wrote in his blog, confirming the birth.

“Hello all. As is being reported by various news sources (don’t know who told them, ‘cos it wasn’t us) we had a little girl last week. Name, weight, time, place etc all belong to us and we won’t be going out of our way to divulge them anytime soon. Rest assured, everyone is well.”

“Thanks for all your well wishes though, they are greatly appreciated.”

“Love, Simon”

The Pegg Family announced the pregnancy back in February, with Simon stating he really was “hoping for a baby girl,” but acquiensced that “I really don’t mind what we have.”

He also spoke about his upcoming fatherhood in an interview earlier this month, stating,

“It’s the most important thing to me. I’m very excited. I want to be a really good dad, a good influence and a good role model – someone my child can turn to, whatever the hell that means… It’s all to do with your attitude and making sure they stay grounded, but making sure they aren’t deprived of anything.
If you’ve got the money to give them things, and it’s a positive thing, then you should do it – education, whatever they need.”

Although Pegg is from London, he and wife Maureen, were “thinking of having it in America as the baby will then have dual citizenship.”

“It struck me that, technically, he or she could eventually become President of the United States. The potential is there,” the happy father noted.
