The Consumer Product Safety Commission is calling for the recall of around 4 million pool floats that are at risk for drowning.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission reported Thursday that Aqua-Leisure Industries would recall the pool floats made in China due to reports of straps used for securing children’s legs in the seat of the float becoming unattached or tearing, which can make children fall through the seat and into the water.

The commission has records of 31 reports of seat straps tearing or coming unattached, but no injuries or deaths had been reported.

The floats were sold in a variety of shapes, including turtles, boats, cars, and crabs to name a few. Consumers should check the label on the packaging to check whether or not the names or model numbers match any on the recall list.

The recalled floats were for sale at retailers including Target, Toys “R” Us, Wal-Mart, Dollar General, Kmart, Walgreens, Ace Hardware, and Bed, Bath & Beyond from the dates of December 2002 through June of this year.

Purchasers of these items can contact Aqua-Leisure for a full refund at (866) 807-3998.
