Natasha Ramirez headed to her local hospital in Sydney on this past Thursday, as she was bleeding and clearly in labor. So, imagine her surprise when one of the Liverpool Hospital’s nurses turned her away, due to no room, stating, “We don’t have enough room tonight”.

“She told me to go back home because I wouldn’t be in labour for another 24 to 48 hours,” the new mother reported.

A mere five hours later, newborn Anjelita was birthed onto Natasha’s bedroom floor.

Ms. Ramirez and her significant other, Ricardo Hermosilla were at her apartment around 3 am, when the expectant mother first showed the signs of labor.

It was then that she summoned a taxicab to sport her and her mother, Diane Burns, to the hospital. She was summoned to the birthing unit at her arrival, but reports that she was not perused by a doctor, but a nurse came to examine her.

There were concerns in Natasha’s mind as there had been complications to a previous pregnancy and labor due to her O-negative blood type, and the anti-D injections she had to take as a result.

“A nurse assessed me and told me to go back home because they were full that night,” she reports.”

“I was told all along during my pregnancy that as soon as I went into labour I needed to be assessed and given the injections straight away,” adds Ms. Ramirez,

“When I got back home I had to lie on the floor I was in so much pain.”

Worried, she phoned the hospital once more and was advised by the hospital staff to come back to the hospital. An ambulance was summoned, but the new infant had already arrived when it turned up.

“I am angry because something could have happened,” the new mother explained.

“When she got home she rang the hospital and told them she was having contractions and then they said they would make arrangements for a bed,” her mother reported. “It just makes you wonder why they couldn’t do that in the first place.”

A hospital spokesperson rose to the hospital’s defense yesterday, claiming patient accusations were taken “very seriously”.

“Patients who have not yet begun labour, and who are assessed by a doctor and found to have no other clinical needs, are usually sent home to await the full onset of labour,” added the spokesperson.

that’s bullcrap. most women do not have a 24-48 hour labor. my moms 3 kids were born within 45 minutes.

I had almost the same thing happen to me. I went to the hospital in labour and 7 centemeters and they told me to go home (which was in a different town than the hospital, and i dont drive.) As soon as the cab dropped me back off at home and i got in the door my water broke, and my daughter was born in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
