In yet another sad tale,  a four month old baby in North Carolina  had it's toes chewed off by a 12-week old pitbull puppy while the  mother and her boyfriend left them in the same room all night.

Tremayne J. Spillman and Robie Lynn Jenkins confessed to leaving the puppy they were dog sitting for in the living room with their child, who was asleep on a fold out couch as they snoozed on another couch.

“As for the dog, he was unrestricted and could go throughout the house,” Sheriff Ed Brown said.

Robie Lynn Jenkins never heard the baby’s cries allegedly, because she was on “medication” and didn’t even know the tragic event unfolded until she changed the infant’s diaper the following morning.  The baby was rushed to Pitt Memorial Hospital and medical authorities report that he may lose the rest of his toes on the affected left foot.

Authorities state that the couple would likely be charged with some sort of felony child abuse or neglect.   After testing negative for rabies, the oblivious puppy was put to down.  It's a sad story on all fronts.

  1. This whole story is just crazy. After all, a baby gets up many times during the night. Was she starving the baby as well???? I remember times when my baby slept later than normal b/4 a feeding and I woke up in a panic, knowing the baby hadn’t cried yet…… I just can’t imagine not waking up to hear your baby scream!!!

That is rediculous. First the parent is at fault for not being more aware of her child.

Puppies chew it is in their nature. This puppy should never have been put down because of this. He is an innocent just as much as the baby. I am sure this is because of the puppy being a pitbull.

I am appaled that this has occured. I am even more appalled that the pup was put down.

Who would leave a infant alone in a room with a puppy.. Puppy’s love to chew on things these parents were out of there minds…

I agree with most of what is being said here, how can a parent not hear a child screaming while this is going on? As far the puppy, it is alarming to me that a puppy would be chewing flesh, shoes, yes, flesh, no.
