According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), women who are past the 35th week of pregnancy should not fly.  New mom, Liew Siaw Hsia, 31, was well within those guidelines at 27 weeks pregnant, when she boarded an AirAsia flight and went into labor.

In an emergency landing at an airport in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and on it’s final approach at 2,000 feet, AirAsia employees and an on board physican helped Liew give birth to a 7 lb. baby boy.  Although her baby was born eleven weeks early,  the baby and mom were both reported in good health.  No complications are expected.

“I was worried about my baby, but now I’m happy,” mom said. “I never thought something like this would happen.”

AirAsia, is offering the new child and mother free fights for life.
