Michelle Duggar Gives Birth, Emergency C-Section

Posted by admin

duggar-new-babyMega mom, Michelle Duggar (18 Kids and Counting) gave birth to her 19th baby (a girl) via an emergency c-section Thursday night. Michelle had been airlifted to the hospital a couple of days earlier which turned out to be gallstones. Her blood pressure had been up and they decided to keep her in the hospital to watch most likely due to the high blood pressure. Women who have had more than 5 or 6 children are more prone to experience toxemia and preeclampsia, which can raise blood pressure to dangerously high levels, putting mom and baby at risk. At this point, information has not yet been released as to why the Duggar's baby girl was delivered so early.

Josie Brooklyn was born at 6:27 pm weighing just 1 lb. and 6 oz.  Mom is resting comfortably and baby Josie is stable. She is being watched closely at the neonatal intensive care unit at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Prayers going up for the Duggar Family.

Congratulations on your new daughter and sister, Josie!

UPDATE:   At 6:54 pm today, People Magazine Online, reported that it was indeed the complication of preeclampsia that caused the emergency c-section.  Michelle Duggar is recovering well and she and Jim Bob's baby girl, is still stable.

Congratulations on the baby girl! I enjoying watching the show and I am happy for your family. I too had preeclampsia with my first baby. He was born at 21 weeks at 1lb. 14oz. He is now 18 months old and healthy as ever. My prayers go out to your family and sweet Josie. It is hard to see a your child in that state, but you just have to trust in God that he will lay his hands on her and protect her. Best of luck and God Bless!
