Shar Pei Dog Gets Eye and Face Lift

Roland is a Shar Pei dog and had a congenital problem that is common to it’s breed.  His eyes were so wrinkly that they caused his eyelashes to turn inward and scratch against his eyes.  If left untreated, it could have caused blindness for this pup.

Roland had a full face lift and double eye lift to correct his problems. The surgery could have cost the owner (if he had an owner), about a thousand dollars.  This change has not only saved Roland’s eyes from blindness, but the RSPCA believes it has made him more adoptable.

Roland now has a better chance at finding a good home as a family could adopt him without having to pay for the surgery, Dr Awad said.

Shar Pei’s were once one of the rarest breeds in the world, but are now often times dropped off to animal shelters by their owners after they realize the health costs associated with owning a Shar Pei.

Best of luck to Roland in finding a new home!
