Katharine Jackson Sues on Behalf of Children?

According to ET Online, Michael Jackson's Mother has once again gone on the war path and filed suit against the concert promoters. She alleges that they should be held responsible for Michael's death and that the children suffered emotional trauma while witnessing their Father suffering.
I don't have any set opinions on who is responsible for what and whether or not this is a money grab or an appropriate suit, after all, I don't know any of the people involved. I do wonder though, if she is really doing what is best for the children?

Haven't they been through enough?

Which brings me to the real topic of this post; As parents and soon to be parents, have you thought about who should be in charge of your children should anything happen to you?

My husband and I are still struggling with this decision. Do we ask people that will raise the children with a similar value system as us? Do we ask people who are young enough to be there for the children for the longest time possible? How about the wealthiest people to ensure they get everything we would like them to have? Only family members so that the children will remain connected to us?

So many questions and so many choices and so many people to tic off if we choose some one other than them....

Did Michael leave the kids to his Mom because she was the best choice or what he felt was his only choice? He made certain that the kids wouldn't be in the care of his Father so he seems to have put some thought into it, however, I wonder if he knew that she would drag them through the court system repeatedly, if he would still choose the same?

I don't know.

I do know, however, that my husband and I have got to sit down and work it out. We don't need a lawyer, we just need to have a piece of paper signed by the two of us stating our preferences and we need to contact our chosen people to make sure they are willing to take on the potential responsibility. Having brought these lives into the world, we really should make sure that we have considered their welfare in the future in the event of the unfortunate deaths of both of us.

Grim things to think about, and I apologize but really, we can blame Katherine Jackson for the topic... she made me think about it.
