Light Drinking and Pregnancy= Okay?
A British study has found that mothers who drank a moderate (one to two drinks a week) amount of alcohol during their pregnancies did not have children with a greater chance of having developmental problems. In fact, "children born to light drinkers were 30 per cent less likely to have behavioral problems than children whose mothers did not drink during pregnancy." However,"the research found that the children of mothers who were heavy drinkers were more likely to be hyperactive, compared with children of mothers who did not drink."
The take away message from this study would appear to be that a glass of wine or a beer with dinner once in awhile will not harm your unborn child. Which will be a welcome relief to our mothers and grandmothers who were advised to imbibe to help them relax for the sake of their children. Nevertheless, there will always be those people who will read a headline like this, not bothering to read the rest of the article and using this small bit of information taken out of context as a justification that drinking during pregnancy is okay.
The internet is already on fire with every possible news source chiming in and different panels of experts responding, it will only be a matter of time until the opinion of the public, ie: the parent bloggers take a stand on how they feel about this news that seems to fly in the face of what most women are told during pregnancy.
So where do you fall in the responses?
Does this study change how you viewed drinking during pregnancy or does it justify what you have already been practicing?
Do you think it will be used inappropriately by people who don't understand the researcher's distinction between light and heavy drinkers?
Inquiring minds want to know!

Hmmmm – this is a tough one! I’ve always been an advocate of “everything in moderation”. Even alcohol, although a drink a week seems like a lot when you’re pregnant!
I think I’ll stick to my moderation rule and just not try and stress
