Saliva Test Ovulation Indicator

When a couple is trying to conceive they can find themselves running through home pregnancy tests and ovulation predictors at a crazy pace. It all adds up after awhile.

Luckily, there is a new test on the market that is not only incredibly easy to use but also REUSABLE. Brilliant idea right?

The Baby Time Mini-Microscope Saliva Ovulation Test, it is a "a small, lipstick-size container that correctly forecasts time of ovulation. It has no side-effects and is inexpensive. It can be reused month after month.

The ovulation test is easy to use. In the morning before brushing teeth, saliva is placed on a glass slide and allowed to dry for 10 minutes. The mini-microscope then magnifies the saliva by a power of 52 to detect its pattern. During infertile days, women will notice a pattern of formless dots or pebbles in the mucus. As ovulation approaches, the dots will start to be joined by a few lines. Then on the day of ovulation, the full-blown fern pattern will emerge. It is very hard to miss."

Seems easy enough and anything that gives couples a little more information to help guide their efforts is a great thing in my opinion. I would like to mention that I have never actually tried this or heard of it before, so all this information is from their website. Have you heard of this before?

The only real drawback I can see with this little gadget is that geeky types like my husband and I would begin playing with it and seeing what all kinds of things look like magnified and close up.... which could be distracting though educational.

How cool to look at dust molecules under a microscope rather than dust them away, right?

The only thing I don't understand is, if we can have an ovulation predictor that is fairly accurate... why don't we have a quickie saliva snap test for pregnancy that women can take before they go out at night?

Seriously, how many fetal alcohol issues could be prevented if women had an easy, cheap and accurate indicator of pregnancy?

Maybe that will be the next big innovation.....
