Sassy Inc. Teething Rattle Recall 2011
New and expecting moms may want to take note of the latest baby recall inolving Sassy teething rattles sold nationwide between July 2009 and January 2011.
The CPSC and Sassy have issued a voluntary recall after a report of a child breaking off a piece of the rattle and chewing on it was brought to their attention. There have been no reports of injury but the company has issued concern over babies possibly choking on the broken off pieces.
The specific product is called the Refreshing Rings infant teethers/rattles with product number 80026 (the product number is printed on the package). The toy is designed for babies 3 months and older and sells for $5, making it a popular accessory to a baby shower gift.
A photo of the product can be seen here (above right) and, if purchased, should be taken away from the child immediately. The product has a bright red, ring filled with water on one end and a black and white polka dot ball on the other.
