Target Booster Seat Recall
Another recall this week involves Circo Child Booster Seats sold at Target stores. The seat's restraint buckle can come open accidentally, putting children at risk of falling from the chair.
The booster seat is blue and green plastic, with a white restraint belt and buckle. A green label on the front of the seat bears the Circo logo. The booster seat attaches to an adult kitchen or dining chair.
Target originally recalled these seats in 2009 after receiving 8 reports of the buckle malfunctioning, including 3 incidents in which the child sustained bruises. The original recall involved 43,000 seats sold between December 2008 and June 2009.
Since then, Target has learned of 10 more cases of the buckles opening unexpectedly, including another 3 cases where the child fell from the chair. This week's expanded recall affects an additional 375,000 booster seats, including all model years of Circo Booster Seats, going back to January 2005.
Since some of these seats are over 6 years old by now, you may have one without even realizing it. They may have been through several children, passed around from family to family or bought and sold in garage sales. Parents should take the time to compare any booster seat they have to the photo here, and contact their local Target store if they are in doubt. If you have one of these seats, you may return it to any Target store for a full refund. For more information, see the Target website or the CPSC website.
