Babyproof your iPhone with Fisher-Price’s Apptivity Case!

Posted by tina

These days, we all joke about how kids today are born with gadgets in their hands – but Fisher-Price is taking the joke seriously with their Laugh and Learn Apptivity case.

The case, which holds iPhones and iPod Touch models and sells for roughly $15, is circular, with a slot to slide in your phone behind a protective film to keep it safe from sticky fingers and baby drool. It also has plastic rings to amuse your baby beyond what’s on the screen.

Along with the case itself, the Laugh and Learn Apptivity case also comes with apps for babies, such as Let’s Count Animals. The apps offer security features like preventing the baby from getting out of them without parental help.

The Apptivity case sounds appealing because it makes your iPhone nearly indestructible in the hands of little ones, and let’s face it – we all know even young children are easily pacified by the colourful screen.

But at SureBaby, we’re divided on making an expensive, sophisticated gadget like the iPhone accessible to children. On one hand, technology is going to be a part of their lives, so it may be beneficial to prepare them from a young age. But on the other hand, when the screen is so enticing, can introducing it too soon ruin other methods of entertainment?

Parents, let us know what you think. Is putting your smartphone in the hands of your child a smart decision?
