Duggars 20th Child Memorialized in Service and Controversial Photos

As if the Duggars’ miscarriage of daughter Jubilee Duggar wasn’t enough to deal with, now the couple must face a media firestorm after photos of their baby taken after her death were leaked online.

The Duggars held a public memorial for baby Jubilee Shalom, which was attended by hundreds of people. On display at the memorial were photos taken of the baby, including one of the baby’s tiny feet in what is presumed to be Michelle Duggar’s hand.
While many guests found these pictures upsetting, they were intended to be private, meant only for those attending the memorial and for the Duggars’ private use.

Unfortunately, the photos were leaked and have cropped up on several websites, leading to even more criticism and outrage at the Duggar family.

However, in their time of grief, Michelle, Jim Bob and their 19 children are ignoring the press and are instead focusing on healing, after drawing strength from the memorial service.

“I feel a great sorrow and grief, and yet at the same time I have a peace in my heart,” Michelle Duggar said to People magazine. “This is so sad, but I have peace. There are people praying for us and angels surrounding our home, and there was peace in the sorrow and the grief. Those feelings are mingled together.”

Michelle reportedly recorded herself reading a letter to the baby, that was played at the memorial, as a form of closure.
At SureBaby, we find this story very difficult to report. While we believe everyone has the right to their opinions, we also feel the Duggars deserve to be free of judgment during this difficult time. Some, however, may argue that they open the door to public scrutiny by sharing their lives with the world on TV.
