High Chair and Children’s Chair and Stool Set Recalls
Two recalls to report on today, both relating to child seating.
First up is the IKEA ANTILOP High Chair, in blue, red and white. Model numbers are 701.467.92, 501.467.93 and 300.697.24.
The high chairs are being recalled due to a flaw in the restraint buckle that holds the child in the chair. According to IKEA, eight incidents have been reported of the buckles opening unexpectedly, and three of the children involved in the incidents suffered minor injuries after falling out of the chair.
The chairs were sold at IKEA stores across the nation between August 2006 and January 2012.
Owners of the affected models are asked to stop using the chairs immediately and to contact IKEA( at 866.966.4532 or by visiting the company’s website at www.ikea-usa.com) for a replacement seat buckle free of charge.

Next up is Elegant Gifts Mart’s Children’s Chairs and Stools. The set, made of metal tubes and with padding bearing a cartoon image of monkeys and teddy bears, is painted a bright yellow. The chair and stool are labeled with the item numbers “JCA8036” and “JCA8037 respectively, on a sticky label under the seat and stool stop.
The set, which was sold in 1 to Seven stores in Puerto Rico between September 2012 and June 2011, is being recalled because the paint is in violation of federal lead level guidelines. No incidents relating to the excess lead have been reported.
Consumers are asked to stop using the sets immediately and return them to any 1 to Seven Store in Puerto Rico, or to contact Elegant Gifts Mart at 323.698.6805 for a full refund.
