Yellow Wiggle Sam Moran Fired from The Wiggles!

Not even The Wiggles are guaranteed job security! Yellow Wiggle Sam Moran has been let go from his position as Wiggles lead singer, and rumors are already emerging about his termination.

Moran joined the group in 2006, replacing original Yellow Wiggle Greg Page, who had to leave the job to recover from a serious illness. Now, over five years later, Page is poised to take back the yellow costume (though in a statement on the position change, it was said that he’s only “partially-recovered”).

Moran hasn’t been available for comment to press on the loss of his job, but the other Wiggles are certainly talking. In a statement from Blue Wiggle Anthony Field, Moran was described as a “hired hand” who was no longer needed to fill the role of Yellow.

Purple Wiggle Jeff Fatt backed up Field, saying Moran’s “natural chemistry” wasn’t right for the group and that Greg’s voice was still really missed.

It’s also a possibility that the departure could be about the money, though this hasn’t been confirmed – Paul Field, group manager for The Wiggles, and the original three members of the group were said to split the majority of the band’s $28.5 million earnings last year, while Moran made $200,000 and was offered a $60,000 severance package.

While Moran isn’t speaking to media, he is talking to his fans, many of whom consider him to be the “original” and “only” Yellow Wiggle.

"I just wanted to send a message to all the children around the world who have sent me such wonderful messages on Facebook and Twitter and some sad messages, too, saying how upset they are that I won't be the yellow Wiggle any more,” he said in a message from the studio.

"Fear not, The Wiggles will continue and you will still see all your other friends."
