Blue Ivy Carter’s Godmother is Oprah!

Well it looks like Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s baby daughter Blue Ivy really will have everything you could ever dream of – including having Oprah Winfrey as a godmother!

According to sources, the couple chose Oprah and Jay-Z’s best friend Tyran ‘Ty Ty’ Smith to be godparents, which may come as a bit of a surprise. Some are wondering why Beyoncé’s sister Solange, who is already a mother, was not chosen, or even close friends like Kelly Rowland or Gwyneth Paltrow and husband Chris Martin.

But in terms of hitting the godparent jackpot, they don’ t come much bigger than Oprah. Though she has no children of her own, Oprah is a very caring person, and with her spiritual values is likely a great choice to help nurture a little baby.

Aside from that, she’s also got a fortune that will no doubt be useful in spoiling a goddaughter! Apparently, Oprah has already gifted Blue Ivy with a trunk full of children’s books (which is not surprising from the childhood education advocate and founder of Oprah’s Bookclub!).
