Baby Shower Research Reveals Trends!

Posted by Alissa Robson

Planning a baby shower? Some data out of a recent study from My Baby Shower Favors (an online baby shower and party favor store) may help you make a few key decisions in your preparation.

Having been in the business since 2004, the company decided to look back at their historical records and see if they could identify any trends. They looked specifically at two time frames – data from the past year (June 25, 2011 – June 25, 2012) and data from the past 5 years (June 25, 2007 – June 25, 2012) – as well as data from both sales and website analytics.

While a few of their findings are specific to their store, including stats like 98 percent of buyers purchased on their first visit in the past year, as opposed to 86 percent over the past five years, other discoveries were more general, including:

Personalized items have been and continue to be a hot trend, with 9 out of 10 items having personalization of some sort.

Average selling price for favors decreased from $2.30 to $1.54 between the 5-year data and the one year data.

So it shows that even though people are having to pinch their pennies, they’re still trying to get the most bang for their buck with items that are more personalized to the mommy-to-be or even the baby.

Not an incredibly remarkable finding, but still, good to know when it comes to planning a shower!
