Michelle Duggar Talks About Her Miscarriage and Plans for More Children

Posted by Alissa Robson

It’s a painful subject, but the Duggars have never been ones to shy away from the public. In their first public appearance since losing their baby in the fifth month of pregnancy, Jim Bob and Michelle appeared on the Today show to talk about the miscarriage of daughter Jubilee Shalom.

Michelle shared details of how at the 19 week mark during an ultrasound, she learned her baby had no heartbeat. This movie was captured on the couple’s television show 19 Kids and Counting, in an episode that aired last night.

Although Michelle described the experience as “devastating”, as always, she turned to her faith to help her get through it.

“I think many others have experienced very similar situations because we’ve heard from many others and I think probably the hardest part is when a loss occurs like this people really don’t know what to say,” she said in the interview, adding, “We realize our sweet little Jubilee is with the lord and we will see her again.”

The Duggars have also stirred up controversy by letting the public know that they are open to having more children.

“We would be open to more if God saw fit to bless us with more,” Michelle said on Today. “I would do it again.”

After a miscarriage and a prior high-risk pregnancy that resulted in a micro-preemie birth, and at the age of 45, many people feel Michelle should take precautions to ensure another pregnancy doesn’t arise.

At SureBaby, we want to know what you think – are the Duggars right to let their faith guide their future pregnancies or is Michelle risking her health and that of any future children?
