Tips for Getting Pregnant Faster – Science and Myth!

Posted by admin

It seems like we spend a good amount of our lives trying not to get pregnant, and then when we’re finally ready to, it’s a long time coming! While there’s no exact science for controlling when you’ll get pregnant, if you’re baby-ready, here are three easy things you can try to help encourage conception.

First off, choose logic over myths. It just makes good sense to stay lying down after sex, rather than getting up, as gravity works against sperm making their way to where they need to be. But the idea that you need to keep your feet in the air? Total myth, say medical professionals.

Same goes for sex positions – while there’s no harm in trying whatever positions you want, there’s marginal difference between positions like missionary or woman on top – but again, think of gravity and maybe avoid standing or sitting.

Next up, don’t play the odds. More sex doesn’t necessarily equate to a greater chance of getting pregnant. Fertility is all about timing. You’re better off tracking your ovulation schedule to identify peak fertility times, or having sex two or three times a week to cover your bases. More sex can actually hurt your odds, as sperm count can decrease the more times a man ejaculates over a period of time.

Finally, make sure you’re healthy before you start trying. Eating right, getting exercise (too much high-intensity exercise may interrupt fertility, but most people don’t have to worry about this), and taking prenatal vitamins before you start trying for a baby will all help in conception, and will help make sure your body is ready to carry a healthy baby.

The most important thing you can do when trying to conceive is to just relax. Stress and anxiety can make conception more difficult, so if you’ve got questions that are worrying you, talk to your doctor for peace of mind. He or she can give you a full healthcheck-up and help you plan for getting pregnant in a way that’s healthy and positive, so you’ll feel at ease and ready for the big event.
