Subject: C-section or Natural?
Content: I'm only 8 weeks, so it's probably premature to be thinking about this already, but I'm wondering which would be better (for both me and the baby): a natural birth or a c-section. This is actually something I need to decide on quite soon, as it has to do with the hospital system here in Italy. It breaks down like this: 1) All births have to be "booked" at a hospital before you're due 2) Hospitals in Verona perfer to do c-sections over natural births, as they believe that c-sections are safer, so I have to book my hospital according tho which type of birth they do. 3) If you choose to do a natural birth, you DON'T get an epidural, which is a major problem for me -- I want that thing. I've heard everything from "it hurts the baby" to "there's no such thing as an epidural" to "you should suffer for your baby." >shudder< I know it's a very personal choice, but does anyone know which of the two is better for the baby? Or has anyone had experience with either one? Thnks!
