**Update (May 20, 2011): by popular demand, we've revived the member blogs. They're now called Journals, and they're by permission only, so contact me if you'd like to start a journal.

 

Dear SureBaby members,

We've been working for a while behind the scenes to improve this site, make it more attractive and easier to use. Get ready for the relaunch of SureBaby.com next week!

We're eliminating some features of the community that don't really get used, like Classifieds and Events, to streamline the site and make it less confusing.

PLEASE NOTE: After careful consideration, we have also decided to eliminate the Blogs and Groups. Many SureBaby members are very active in the Blogs, and I'm delighted to see moms supporting each other through this feature. However, we'd like to focus all discussions in one place. Once the new site goes live, all new discussions will be in the Forums section. We're very open to discussion about how we can better organize the forums, too, so please don't hesitate to comment!

I would recommend that you begin posting all new topics for discussion in the Forums right away, since the Blogs will no longer be accessible after the relaunch.

Thanks for your understanding! I hope you'll find the new site design a welcome change.

That sounds great sooooo sick of all those people trying to sell shoes and stuff in the blogs cant wait to see what the relaunch will look like :D x

Thanks for your input. We are working on a way for users' forum posts to show up in their profiles. If we can do this, would you think you'd be able to stay up to date on your friends easily?


We are also looking into creating "featured" blogs for regular users such as yourself. A member would have to request blogging permissions from me, and we'd then create a personal blog page for her. Part of the problem is that new members are often not sure where to post their questions, and the blogs and forums wind up overlapping quite a bit. Also, the blogs get spammed a LOT, as you may have noticed.


It will take us a little while to design these new features, of course. In the meantime, let me know what you think! And to all members - if there's anything you've been wishing for, this is the time to ask for it!

I personally will miss the blogs as this enabled me to see how my friends were getting on with their pregnancy or how they were getting on ttc. just a quick question would you be able to see your friends forum topics if you went onto their page?

I realize that a lot of members use the blog, and I hope people won't be too upset to lose it. My hope is that you'll still be able to post the same types of updates and discussions in the forums, and it will eliminate a lot of double posting and confusion for new members. The topics in the TTC/pregnancy forums tend to be pretty similar to those in the blogs, so we're just looking to combine them into one. If this doesn't work out, though, we can always change it back - this is your community!


A forum for PCOS is a good idea - quite a few members seem to be struggling with that condition. I'd like to break out the TTC and Pregnancy forums into subtopics, so this will certainly be one of them. There actually is a forum already for off-topic posts. It's called "Water Cooler", but it doesn't get used much. Maybe we should rename it?


We're working on getting forum signatures and tickers, too. That probably won't be ready in time for the relaunch, but it's coming!

Hi Admin, such a shame that the blogs will taken out since its the most used by the members. Well my input would be to follow the same trend you have going on now in the forums - TTC/Moms to Be or an open forum for both...And another one where persons can put in anything that doesnt pertain to TTC and pregnancy. I don't know what the demand is but also one for women with PCOS AND TTC......Looking forward to the new changes and hope we all will like it....Oh don't forget the signature.......
