I should add - with my second, breastfeeding was a snap and didn't hurt at all! I guess cause i knew what i was doing!

I hope your boyfriend comes around - i think for a lot of guys fatherhood doesn't become real until after the baby is born, and i know a few guys who didn't really become interested for several months afterward. I think it's because they don't feel a big connection cause they think there's really not much for them to do at first and they think babies are boring.

I breastfed, and i absolutely recommend it. With my first, i did have quite a bit of pain for the first couple of weeks - but apparently my baby wasn't latching properly, which was essentially causing blisters. Once the nurse showed me how to do it properly, it still hurt while my nipples were healing. So DO get some help from a nurse or lactation consultant to save yourself a rocky start. Once you get the hang of it, it is SO much easier and more convenient than bottles!

With twins it might be a little tougher - a friend of mine with twins did both - breast and bottle, so while she was breastfeeding one, her husband or mother would bottle feed the other, and then they'd switch for the next feeding!

For what it's worth, I didn't experience any pain at all. They books tend mention that only light haired people with very little pigment in their skin are most susceptible to initial pain when the are just beginning breastfeeding.

It was a wonderful experience and so easy and flexible to every situation.

He's terrified.  I hope he comes around.

You can absolutely breastfeed twins!  It'll be a bit of work, but cleaning all those bottles will be a lot of work as well!

My breastfeeding experience - everyone tells you "Oh it shouldn't hurt".  Well, it does.  The first two weeks were HARD!  But your nipples DO toughen up and after a few weeks it's easy-squeezy.  You just have to fight through the first few weeks.  And the joy of not preparing and carting around bottles and stuff are well worth a few weeks of pain.

Glad everything is going well with the babies.

I am sorry to hear that your boyfriend isn't keeping up his end of the deal, that is a real shame. On a brighter note, your family sounds super supportive which is incredible.

As to your question about feeding the babies; Breast is best for several reasons.

-Breastmilk contains yoru antibodies which protect the babies from infection and viruses right away

-Breastmilk is perfectly formulated with everything your babies need to grow healthy and strong

-Breastfeeding can help the mother to regain her pre-pregnancy figure much faster

-Breastfeeding is free, which allows you to spend your money on more important things

-Breastfeeding helps to develop and cement the bond between mother and babies.

There are so many other reasons too. Here are a few articles I found that may help you to understand breastfeeding a bit more.

Hope these help. Perhaps the next time you have a doctor's appointment, you could ask for a referral to your local lactation consultatant so they could help you understand what is involved, what to expect and what a joy it can be. Or you could join your local La Leche League group and start learning it first hand. There is sure to be a friendly group in your area.
