I just read an article by the March of Dimes on the average weight gain during pregnancy. The total average? Between 25 and 35 pounds. Of this, about 7.5 is baby, 7 pounds are fat, protein and nutrients, 4 is fluid, 2 is cleavage, 2 is uterus, 2 is amniotic fluid and 1.5 is placenta.
