i always have a 28-day cycle. i decided to start using birth control pills at the start of my cycle in October, which was the 19th. i used it for 6 days then stopped due to feeling sick. i had unprotected sex on the 25-31 of October, but then i started spotting on November 1st, it lasted 4 days. i dont know if that was another period because i was due for my period on the 14/15th and it still has not come. i took a pregnancy test on the 15th and the control line was very strong but i swore there was a very very faint line. i am not sure if its my mind or if there was an evaporation line. should i wait until nxt week to retest? can i be pregnant?? i am extremely tired, very moody, experiencing light cramping in the pelvic area and back pain...which cud all be signs of PMS and pregnancy.

Dear Pepsicola,

My period is late too. It´s already 7th day from the date I was expected to get my period.

My method of birth control is always using condom on the fertilization period. And then after 20 days from the date of my first day of period, sex will be unprotected because I understand that is the time you can have unprotected sex without getting pregnant until you get the period. The date I started had unprotected sex was on Nov.1.

I can feel tenderness in my breasts but that is also normal before I get my period. Other than that, I´m fine...no nausea, no fatigue what so ever. My previous pregnancy was 5 years ago and I remember even before the expected date of period, I already had the pregnancy symptoms. So I´m confused this time.

I´m going to wait another week before I do the pregnancy test.

If you are still taking the birth control...DO NOT WAIT ON THE PREGNANCY TEST.  Birth control pills while being the slightest bit pregnant can cause defects in the fetus.   If I were you, whether I was still taking birth control or not, I would not wait a week, especially if you think you saw a faint line.   By going ahead and taking the pregnancy test (which I would recommend doing in the morning, that is when your pregnancy hormones are strongest),  you can go ahead and find out the answer.  If you are not pregnant you will know, if you are pregnant you will know, and can be preparing.  If you are taking birth control pills, and find out that you are in fact pregnant, stop taking the birth control immediately.  As for the faint line, that normally can signify a positive result, even if it is very, very faint.  That is why you should immediately retest, that way you can be prepared for anything that is about to happen...better safe than sorry.  GOOD LUCK!!
