My opinion:
Well, as it is we're being forced to spend trillions of dollars on a war that many don't agree with. This doesn't even count the human cost- a cost that you cannot even measure. If a president plans on using my tax money to provide healthcare to some of the millions of Americans that cannot afford their medical costs, then I definitely have no problem with it. I propose we take some (or all!) of the money we spend on the Iraq war and spend it on the health of the needy.
Any money spent would be well worth it when I'm able to know that all of the American children have the same opportunity (not just the wealthy ones) to quality healthcare. As a fully functional member of society, I am happy to pay money to help care for members that may not have as much as I do. We already pay tax dollars for programs that benefit society as a whole (such as education, our transportation system, law enforcement). All of these wonderful things come from our tax dollars.
I know that I personally benefit every day from the roads I drive on. I benefit from my tax-funded-free-education. I benefit from the police officers who respond if I have an emergency. All of these agencies are extremely important to our society.
Imagine if all of the sick, poor, drug addicted, homeless, old, young, or just plain down on their luck people out there were able to see a doctor. Perhaps it may even save us money in the end as we will have more functioning members in our society. When the people are healthy and happy, it makes you stronger as a nation.
By the way, good topic
