The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Approximately one in every eight women in the U.S. will develop breast cancer at some point in their life. To help raise awareness about this horrible disease, we’ve put together some tips on breast cancer prevention.

According to scientists, there are several things around us, as well as things that we do which may increase our chance of developing cancer. Therefore, some risk factors for cancer can be avoided. On the other hand, there are certain risks beyond our control such as age and which genes we have inherited from our parents. These risk factors are obviously unavoidable. Prevention simply means avoiding the risk factors we are able to control in our lives.

Thank you! I have a few friends who are breast cancer survivors and I try to do all I can to help fund research.

Every month should be Breast Awareness Month so we can make sure that we have mammograms, and take care of the things that should be important in our lives. I neglect havin mammograms, but since I work in a clinic, I am reminded all the time. It's very important for a long and healthy life.
