There is a fascinating discussion going on over on hte Momotics blog about the issue that Facebook has with posting pictures of breastfeeding.

She show the pictures that are deemed acceptable side by side with those that are considered inappropriate.

I had to laugh at how ridiculous the Facebook policy is considering that breasfeeding Mothers and children are a natural and beautiful expression of parenting and nurturing and pictures of large breasted women spilling out of their shirts or not wearing their shirts are also a natural part of life. Is one more morally corrupt than the other?

What do you guys think? Should Facebook revamp their site policies to be open to all forms of boobies or are the non lactating kind the only type that should be allowed?

Bwahaa haa haa.

Those pictures of large chested women are awesome. Kind of made me paranoid that some of my party pictures could be floating around on the internet or facebook somewhere.

I don't have any problem with pictures of people in club wear and I can't really see how a baby breastfeeding is rude either.

The facebook guys are freakin idiots. Bunch of prudes.

I wouldn't walk around with my breastfeeding shots plastered on my back for everyone to see as I go through my day, and I'm not sure why others would publically share these types of photos? I guess I'm just private that way.

Similar to the laws here in Ontario, Canada where woman may legally go topless (though this rarely seems to happen) so long as it isn't done in a provocative manner. While our breasts have been sexualized by the media, they are perfectly natural and breastfeeding is the purpose of their existence. Maybe Facebook can adopt the same strategy - this could make it so that even breasts that are covered but are displayed in an overly provocative way (i.e. wet t-shirt for example) wouldn't be allowed while breastfeeding shots.

Again, I'm surprised the conversation is even necessary.

I would never allow myself to be photographed while breastfeeding if i could help it. But really, breastfeeding a baby in public isn't a crime.

I completely agree!!  Breastfeeding is about as natural as breathing!!

I find it interesting and perplexing how sites like Facebook, impose their own preconceived (and perhaps judgemental) "policies" on what they deem is "acceptable".

..But then again, they powers-that-be who run the site, have the ultimate say on disclosure on their sites,.....  Makes ya wonder,....do they actually listen to their readers/subscribers/customers????

Perplexed.
