Hi ladies. Yesterday, i accidentaly took an overdose of folic acid. I took 2 yesterday instead of 1 and i've been freaking out since then. Is this harmful for me or my baby? Pls help.

hi mum1166,you and your baby will be totaly fine i have done that in both previous pregnancies forgetting that i had already taken it. I phonned the midwife the first time i had done it and she reasured me there was nothing to worry about just said that i may feel a bit more sick for a day or so but there would be no harm to my baby. Hope this can put your mind at ease.

I think folic acid is pretty safe. One double dose shouldn't be a problem. Have you called your nurse/doctor/midwife? My understanding is that it's watersoluble, so your body just flushes out any extra. You would have to take an extremely high dose to be toxic.

I've since learned that my fear was uncalled for. When i took the overdose, i began to think my boy had stopped kickin properly. He's since compensated for that by giving me some well placed and, well timed kicks. Thanks ladies.
