General Discussion | Octuplets Mom - Your View?

Well it seems to me despite the ethics involved of implanting so many embryos, it is just as shady and unethical to try to tell such cases that they can't pick and choose what they decide to do with their body. Yes I feel that it was wrong personally for this woman to have so many more kids when she knew she couldn't take care of them, but I would never give up my freedom to decide how many babies to have and when and in what circumstance. That is all my business and my right. The doctor has the right to advise me as to whether or not I should do it or not, but ultimately the decision is mine. We are a nation of choice, look at the abortion laws in this country. Such an abhorrent practice, but still practiced nonetheless. I think the real issue here is that we have become such a voyeuristic country that a woman like this feels that the only way she could ever make it financially or have her 15 minutes of fame(who knows her real reasoning) is to do something so drastic and lifechanging all across the board as this. We as a country REWARD people like this, as long as they do it in the parameters we think acceptable. Look at Jon and KAte plus Eight. Its the same thing, just more socially acceptable. I never think its right to pimp your kids out EVER. Every child pimped out for entertainment has turned out horribly. Look at La Lohan, Britney Spears, I could go on and on. This horrible fascination of voyeurism at the entertainment level at the expense of the helpless children involved MUST STOP.
