OK moms, I need a "you can do it." My fav is summer... there is nothing more peaceful for me than to be on the beach with my three kids and my Mom. The weather is getting cooler, and school starts Monday. Soccer has started, my oldest is going to a VERY hard high school, and my youngest will have real homework and tests for the first time. I work full time, and my husband, now unemployed, is NOT the greatest at helping with homework, even though he will be home. I work all day, come home and cook dinner, do homework with the kids, feed the animals, clean, read everything that was sent home, get clothes ready for the next day, make lunches for the next day, pick up from soccer practice, give hugs and kisses, read books, get everyone to brush teeth, take a bath.... need I go on? So Monday, my happy wonderful beach summer ends, and the madness begins. Please tell me I can do it! Kath

I am exhausted. But I am empowered. Empowered and Exhausted LOL! I took off Friday to celebrate my 15 year old's birthday with him. We went to the beach and spent over 5 hours there, trying out his new board. I was baking in the sun, on my feet the entire time, chasing my little one. Then today, a scout ceremony - guess where? The beach! My favorite place, but another five hours baking in the sun, chasing my little one... my body is BEAT. Tomorrow... well... ummm.... the water park. MORE hours in the sun... and this time literally climbing thousands of stairs by the end of the day... and yes, chasing after you know who. My point? I am not home this entire weekend. My house is a wreck. And my daughter's room is an EMBARRASSMENT. Dust and dirt, things all over the floor, junk, junk and more junk. There just isn't enough time in the day. But if I didn't get it cleaned up this weekend, everything would come crashing down on me once school starts. Exhausted and 7 pm... looking at the room, I remembered what someone said at work last week. "You can look at a huge job and say, 'there is NO WAY I will get this done!' or you can look at it and say, 'OK, let's get to it and get it done!'" So I grabbed myself a strong coffee, turned on some great music, and GOT IT DONE. But get this. I didn't just clean. I cleaned, threw away, then REARRANGED THE FURNITURE with my oldest - and cleaned some more. My daughter's room is now DONE, CLEAN and much more organized. It took a good five hours... but now I can go to the water park tomorrow and feel like I deserve it. This project was MASSIVE. But I chose to look at it and say, "OK, let's get this done!" I am not always this motivated b/c I am often overworked and just tired. But today, I found it within myself to tackle the huge monster hanging over me. And I finished, and I am SO HAPPY! It was just a little bit of attitude change, some great music and caffeine... and now something huge is done, and done well. :) Now I'm going to bed!!

Would love to know any home remedies you all use with your babies – safe of course… I have one that worked like a charm. My son had a terrible case of diaper rash and the regular medicine wasn’t working very well. The nurse told me to try Mylanta on his hiney. Yes, Mylanta! The acid reducer provides relief quickly and dries out the skin. Sure enough, that night he woke up screaming, so I changed his diaper and put on Mylanta. Instant stop of screaming! Of course I hadn’t thought about it – it was cherry flavored… so the next day I began to call him my sweet Cherry Butt!

I just read an article by the March of Dimes on the average weight gain during pregnancy. The total average? Between 25 and 35 pounds. Of this, about 7.5 is baby, 7 pounds are fat, protein and nutrients, 4 is fluid, 2 is cleavage, 2 is uterus, 2 is amniotic fluid and 1.5 is placenta. Honestly, I gained a LOT of weight with my babies. I got up to 195 on my third... and I get wide rather than rounded - NOT a good look from the back. Personally, I think most of my weight gain was from Taco Bell on my first! Are you one of those who stays small and gorgeous, or do you gain a lot of weight? And if you have gained, do you find you are eating one particular thing that is probably the culprit? Or do you just get big no matter what you do or don't eat?
