Waxed Easter Egg Crafts for Kids

Items needed:

  • Hard-boiled eggs
  • Cheap wax crayons
  • A small amount of cooking oil
  • A soft cloth
  • Easter egg dyes in various colors
  • Paper towels
  • Oven

First, preheat your oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Create designs on the eggs using wax crayons. Be sure to press heavily.

Next, dip the eggs in Easter egg dye until they are the desired color. Dark dye colors work best for this project.

Allow the newly colored eggs to dry. Place the eggs in the preheated oven for just a few minutes until the crayon wax has melted. Carefully remove them from the oven.

Help your children to wipe the melted wax off of the eggs using paper towels. Then, dip the eggs in dye once more so that the dye fills in the area where the wax was. For best results, use a color that contrasts with the first color you chose.

Finally, you can polish the Easter eggs using cooking oil and a soft piece of cloth so that they are bright and shiny.
