Fetal Development Pictures | 24 Weeks
Fetal Development at 24 weeks:
lungsLungsTiny air sacs called alveoli are forming to prepare for breathing air.
faceFaceA layer of fat is forming to help fill out your baby's features, although the skin is still quite thin and wrinkled.
cervixCervixThe cervix remains tightly closed up until the final days of your pregnancy, unless you are diagnosed with an incompetent cervix, which must be carefully treated to continue your healthy pregnancy.
What's happening this week:
Your baby is around 8 1/2 inches from crown to rump, and although she still has some maturing to do, she now has a chance of surviving outside your womb. The tubes, blood vessels and air sacs in the lungs are forming, and the body is producing white blood cells to fight off infection.
